History
The DEI Group was founded as Dundics' Enterprises, Inc. in 1975, providing machinery design
engineering services in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1982, the company expanded through the formation of
a new business operation, The DEI Group, focused on technology applications for physical asset
management. In 1985, the Pittsburgh-based operation was consolidated into The DEI Group.
In 1988 The DEI Group and Marine Controls of Norfolk formed IDAX Inc. as a 50-50 partnership to
focus on the development and installation of sensor-based machinery conditions assessment systems.
The primary technology product of IDAX Inc., Integrated Condition Assessment System (“ICAS”),
is the leading edge machinery condition assessment system available in the market.
As a result of our innovative approach in designing breakthrough solutions using a knowledge based approach, IDAX Inc.
was acquired by GE Power Systems on December 14, 2001 which marked a milestone in The DEI Group’s history.
