Overview

Competitive differentiation in the current and future market place serviced by critical asset-intensive industries such as power generation, petrochemical, paper, and metals, will be defined by:

  • The overall process effectiveness of the plant as defined by yield, throughput, availability, risk, and cost metrics
  • The level of correlation between production machinery management processes and corporate business objectives/measures
  • The extent of automated decision management, integrating both external and internal influences

Traditionally, asset management was defined by maintenance functions and associated systems which supported value-preserving activities related to manufacturing equipment. These value-preserving activities have been in the form of repair following failure, time-based preemptive part replacement, and costly standby redundant equipment positioning. Even predictive technologies have traditionally been applied in an environment which isolated machinery symptom from business value. The focus is changing to sustained value-creation by the production asset within Plant Asset Management environment that integrates the plant floor information with the maintenance management processes.

The DEI Group’s solution, Intelligent Asset Management (IAM) provides optimized asset life cycle management, extending the PAM environment by also integrating economic risk analysis and decision support, encompassing operations, logistic support processes as well as the influence of external business drivers. This integration will allow the conversion of the plant process and equipment information interrelationships into knowledge, executable in an automated system.

The full benefit of PAM information technology will only be realized when it supports business processes designed through a systemic analysis of “critical-to-quality” drivers and their relationships to key business performance indicators.

The IAM solution offered by The DEI Group integrates information technology systems supporting Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Modeling, Machinery Condition Assessment, Root Cause Analysis, Enterprise Asset Management with plant processes and KPI metrics, strategically implemented to achieve a specific objective, taking into consideration market, business, and operating conditions.
